"Help/I'm Down" Capitol contracted the pressing to the independent pressing plant Compo Company Ltd.
It can appear that the b-side of this release has no matrix number in the run-off. However, a close examination will reveal that the matrix numbers are located under the edge of the label.
The record was issued to coincide with the release of the soundtrack and the film which premiered around the same time.
The first few thousand copies were housed in an imported U.S. East Coast picture sleeve. The sleeve is very colorful and vibrant making it a favourite among collectors. Remaining copies were released in the standard matte black stock Capitol sleeve.
Capitol 5476 was a smash hit reaching number 1 or 2 in all markets across Canada.
Some of the prices seems to me to be highly out of whack for a common #1 hit record but if dealers can get it from the unsuspecting they most certainly will. The picture sleeve, however, is not so common. There are a couple of subsequent releases of Capitol 5476 that are noteworthy. One is a 1967 or 1968 swirl release with brackets and the other is a 1969 target issue with a target logo. Both of these reissues are infinitely more scarce than the original and to the right person would be worth a much higher price.
