Apple artists 45 RPM records released in a white "Apple" sleeve

In Canada the white Apple Company sleeve was first introduced with the release of "The Long and Winding Road". This record was pressed by both Compo and RCA. The initial release of the Compo pressing was housed in an imported U.S.A. east coast picture sleeve while the initial RCA pressing was housed in a white Apple sleeve with a green "Apple" text printed on both sides above the die cut hole.

This sleeve was somewhat unique to Canada although a very similar sleeve was issued in the Netherlands.

Except for "The Long and Winding Road" the sleeve was only issued on a small number of Apple releases.

Apple artists released in this sleeve in Canada include:

  • Apple 1800 Black Dyke Mills Band, "Yellow Submarine"
  • Apple 1801 Mary Hopkin, "Those Were The Days"
  • Apple 2 Mary Hopkin, "Les Temps Des Fleurs"
  • Apple 1803 The Iveys, "Maybe Tomorrow"
  • Apple 1804 Trash, "Road to Nowhere"
  • Apple 1805 James Taylor, "Carolina in my Mind"
  • Apple 1806 Mary Hopkin, "Goodbye"
The white sleeve with green Apple lettering is very flimsy and is prone to wear, ring wear and discoloration. Excellent condition examples are hard to find. VG/VG+ examples sell for approximately $10 and excellent examples sell for $15 - $20.
