The "Beatles on Apple" white company sleeves

The "Beatles on Apple" white company sleeve is a sought after Canadian only Beatles' collectible.

Beginning with the release of "Hey Jude" in August, 1968, through the release of "Long and Winding Road" in May, 1970, a number of Beatles' 45 RPM were released in a unique white Apple sleeve.  For the most part the sleeve housed first run pressings.

Below is a list of releases in the unique sleeve.
  • Hey Jude/Revolution - Compo pressing only
  • Get Back/Don't Let Me Down - both Compo and RCA pressings
  • Ballad of John and Yoko - RCA pressings only
  • Something/Come Together - both Compo and RCA pressings
  • Let It Be/You Know My Name - RCA pressing only

RCA pressing in unique sleeve.
The sleeve was made with a soft white paper making it delicate and prone to dark ring wear and yellowing.

Copies in VG+ condition sell in the $12 to $18 range.  An excellent copy sells for $20 to $30 while a NM copy sells for closer to $40.

This sleeve has been counterfeited on an inferior paper. Buyer beware!

During the same time period a number of Canadian non-Beatles Apple releases were released in a white sleeve with just the word "Apple".  The initial pressing of the Beatles' last single "The Long and Winding Road" was issued in this sleeve.

  1. I can't honestly say that back in '68 I ever saw "Hey Jude" with a white Apple sleeve. Every single one I saw had the glossy black sleeve. The same goes for Compo pressings of "Get Back".
