Cinram pressing with an inner and outer pressing ring. |
Only three copies are known to exist indicating that this pressing may have been a sample product or trial run for Capitol that was somehow released into the market. There are no known regular black vinyl pressings of this record by Cinram.
This may be a Quiex II pressing. Quiex was coloured with dye rather than black carbon and was used in a limited number of record pressings between 1981 and 1991. The result is a record with a translucent quality when held up to strong light. The translucent color is often, brown, red or purple. Quiex was promoted as a better material for analog music over regular vinyl as the added black carbon created "noise". Some record companies used Quiex for initial pressed promo copies. Its use was not widely adopted although quite a few albums in this decade were pressed on Quiex such as Elton John, The Police etc.
I has also been reported, but not confirmed, that some copies of Beatlemania on the same translucent brown vinyl exist. Could there be a Long Tall Sally out there?
The only confirmed sale of Twist and Shout that I know of on translucent vinyl sold for $430.
