Capitol Canada 5371 Eight Day A Week / I don't Want To Spoil The Party
Released in February, 1965 and a number one hit. The stamping parts were shipped to Canada from Capitol's Scranton plant so the matrix and the IAM logo is machine stamped in the run-off wax. The first few thousand copies were shipped in an imported U.S. east coast picture sleeve with remaining copies shipped in a matte black Capitol company sleeve.
The A-side was written by McCartney and Lennon as a possible song for a second movie and possible the title of the movie. A number of times Lennon expressed the view that the Beatles never saw "Eight Days A Week" as their best work and more of a contrived piece. Even though it was a massive hit in the U.S. and Canada the Beatles never performed "Eight Days" live.
A near mint copy of the Canadian single has a value of between $35 and $40. A near mint east coast sleeve has a value of $80 to $120. Together the value is $100 to $160.
